In your 40's you may have teenage children, aging parents, and be in a senior position within your workplace — often all three at once. This is often described as the "sandwich generation" decade, and for good reason — the financial and emotional load of supporting both children and parents at the same time is real, and it tends to arrive without much warning.

This is usually the highest-earning decade of your working life, but it's also the decade where the financial claims on that income are most crowded: school fees, a bigger mortgage or an upgrade, supporting parents as they age, and trying to actually get ahead rather than just keep up.

We can help alleviate the time and stress of managing your money! We often assist clients in their 40's with:

  • Important property decisions such as whether to upgrade the family home, buy an investment property or buy a holiday house.

  • Improving their tax position to keep more funds with the family as bracket creep pushes more people into the highest tax bracket.

  • Helping you manage any retirement or aged care transitions for your parents.

  • Ensure you are invested correctly and have a suitable cashflow to afford private school funding.

  • Ensure your superannuation remains right for you. As your super balance grows you need to navigate contribution cap limits and the super products becomes more competitive for your business.

  • Reviewing insurance as circumstances change. Cover that made sense with a mortgage and toddlers often doesn't match a paid-down loan and teenagers, and premiums increase with age regardless.

  • How to navigate business ownership; whether that is through a new business, buying into a business, inheriting a business or receiving employee shares.
